Hi Dan, The finish on the knife is just perfect! The sheath is outstanding also!
I noticed the tight fit of the knife in
it and I was impressed with it's perfect construction.
Yes, I can see how the knife would be securely carried in
the sheath without the strap.
I've never seen a better fit of blade and sheath in my life Dan.
Your sheaths alone are worth over $100.00 in my opinion.
They're unique in quality and truly worthy of being mated with such fine
knives as you make. Thankyou for doing such an Excellent job for me Dan.
You can be sure that I'm going to
be contacting you again for my next knife. I want it to be a Gray Knife!

I saw one photo of a machete that you made for a guy. It looks pretty efficient.
What kind of steel is it made
from Dan?
You sure can use my email in your satisfied customers page.
I'll bet that you never get an unsatisfied
customer!
Hey, thanks again Dan. I'll be keeping in touch with you!

Hi Fred
Thank you
I'm glad you like it,
I was wondering if the finish was over kill for you or
just right to feel at home on your side.
I wanted to mention the sheath is tight enough to use with out the
strap if you want to remove it for an easier draw.
as I said before It's very interesting work you're doing and hope
you'll keep in touch and up to date on your finds.
Did I ever sent you the picture of the Machetes I make, you asked about?
you have a good trip and thanks again...

......Dan
PS would you mind if I use your e-mail in my satisfied customers page...
thanks again

Hi again Dan! I just got my knife today. Wow!!! You are one Very talented knifemaker
Dan! The Model #142, George Wostenholm, IXL Bowie that you made for me is
absolutely the finest knife I've ever had the honor of owning.
I love it!!! It's construction is quite solid and perfectly contoured.
I've been looking for many years in search of such
a knife as you made for me. Fortunate indeed am I to have found
your website.
This knife will be entrusted with my archaeological associate when he drives down to
Central America with our supplies for our upcoming expedition. There, he'll meet me at
the local airstrip where I'll proudly take posession of it once more. Having been in
more than several tight circumstances down there, I can truthfully say that I'd trust my
life to this knife! Thanks again Dan for doing such a fantastic job. I'm certain that
James and Resin Bowie would both be quite envious of my new knife! Fred Gaarde

I was just this morning wondering if you got the knife or not.
I'm very glad you like it and yes I have a lot of pride in them.
thank you I will, and if OK, I'll put you on my satisfied customer page
can I also put your e-mail, addy and phone number on it?
if you ever want it re-sharpened just send her back, you'll pay shipping only.
OH one more thing every once or twice a year put the knife in
mineral oil for a day or two
up to just before the leather to keep the stag stable
it's not a big deal it just helps it in the long run..

...Thanks again ...Dan

Subject: Knife Received

Happy New Year, Dan!
(I sent you an email from work, but I don't know if it went through.
For some reason it seems to have a problem with message replies,
so I'm sending again from home here.)
My long awaited Brownville toothpick knife arrived today.
The knife is beautiful! It's everything I expected and then some.
Worth every second of the wait.
I'm glad you suggested that stag handle! It is perfect for the knife.
The blade is nothing less than a razor and the workmanship and
finish are absolutely as close to perfection as a human being can get.
The balance and feel of the piece are just about heavenly.
I'll be every bit as proud to own it as you must be to have made it.
If you ever want to use me as a reference, rest assured that
I'll give a glowing report to anybody who asks me.
Congratulations on a really fine piece of work.
Yours,
Mike Neely

Dan...It's here!!! I could not be more pleased. Now that it is all finished
I can confess that I had two latent misgivings.
One was about not getting a mirror polish on the blade.
The second was about the two extra brass spacers at both ends next
to the nickel silver. I think both of these choices turned out fine.
The big thing is your workmanship. It is just beautiful.
Nobody gets to shave with this baby. Have a great Christmas;
I am still "diddling around" with that new knife design.
I'll shoot you a revised design tomorrow.
THANKS FOR THE 105, it's a BEAUTY!! Richard Day

hi dan
i just got my mail .its 3:55 thursday afternoon. boy, you did a nice job on
the knife.i cant figure out what the handle is made of. is it a stone or an
apoxie of somekind? its a beautiful color, and really dresses up the great
job you did. jan is impressed too. she said its the first knife she really
thinks is pretty.
you made it just about perfect to the model i sent to you. i like the filings
you did for the thumb. their fancy. not the run of the mill,as on commercial
knives. i know you felt a little rushed to get it to me ,and you forgot to
put the final edge on it, so i'll send it back for the final touches, when i
get back from mich.
i,ll re-emburse you for your mailing cost too. its really nice of you to
replace the other one with this one.
what is your final thought on the design? do you think you will offer it to
anyone? i'd be interested to know. i think its a good one. the leather is
perfect too. the whole knife is protected. and its a streamlined design. i'm
very happy with everything and i'm sure i'll keep this one.
great job dan............friend bob

Best regards,
Ed.-

Thank you very much Angie.
I try to make all my knives, so all can appreciate them.
When none collectors say they
are pretty I've done my job with the art end of it.
This is an art form from early time.

Thanks again ....Dan

Hi Angie
The knife is done and will be going next day air tomorrow.
UPS doesn't run Sat. here, so tomorrow's the day.
Please let me know how you and your friend like it.
Remember the blade is high carbon steel and will rust and tarnish.
The leather sheath will retain moisture, so don't store it in the sheath
for long periods of time without cleaning and oiling..
Keep all the steel parts oiled, remember: the blade goes all the way back to
the bolster.
When you put the knife in the sheath -beware!- the point is sharp......
it will dig in to the back of the sheath, just get a feel for how it goes
in.
Thank you for the order....Dan

Dear Dan,
It's Betsy. Charlie is away today so I wanted to sneak you a message.
The knife arrived safe and sound at my sister's and I have it now.
It's as beautiful as my knife, and you finished it much faster than I expected!
Thank you so much for your help.
I know Charlie will love his birthday present! Now I have to wait until
August to give it to him! We are going elk hunting in Idaho in
November for our honeymoon, and now we both have special
hunting knives for the trip- good medicine! (I'm part Native American).
I haven't gotten my most recent Visa statement,
but I'm assuming you used the # I sent you.
If you have to reach me for any reason, you can call me at work: (781)631-42,
Marblehead fire dept, and ask for Besty Dyer.
If I'm not on duty, just ask when I'll be back at the station.
Thanks again, Dan! You do wonderful work, a true artist!
If I don't hear from you, will e-mail you when Charlie gets his present.
Otherwise, mums the word!
Sincerely, Betsy

Dan, you are a master. That is one absolutely beautiful knife. Thank you, Ed

Hello Dan,
Just opened the box a minute ago. Must have got delivered last night.
Now that's a knife!!!!! It's a real beauty and what a great job you did.
I am more than well pleased I'm crazy about it.
I really like the patina that you left on the blade.
We'll leave the nice shiny blades for those modern knives.
I have a number of "new" old bowies (about 8-10) and
I do believe that this one is my favorite.
Would you be interested in doing another bowie but a different pattern?
We could do one with a shorter blade this time.
Pete
